FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Here are the questions we hear most about using Daye. If this doesn’t answer yours, feel free to reach out from Settings → Contact in the app.
Pricing & getting started
How much can I do for free?
Adding anniversaries, birthdays and memorial days is free and unlimited. The monthly calendar overview, advance notifications, and co-editing with family (groups of up to 3 people) are all free. Premium unlocks combined notification timings, unlimited group members, photo attachments, theme/font changes, bulk import from contacts, and pinning multiple items.
What does Premium cost and include?
It’s ¥480/month or ¥3,600/year. With Premium you can combine multiple advance-notification timings, get unlimited group members and groups, attach photos (up to 10), use 22 fonts and color themes, bulk-import from contacts, and pin multiple items. Adding anniversaries is unlimited even without Premium.
Can I use it without signing in?
You can start using it right away without signing in. However, to carry your data over to a new device or after reinstalling, you’ll need to sign in with Apple / Google from Settings → Account. Once linked, everything comes back when you sign in again, even if you delete the app.
Groups & sharing with family
What is a group (sharing with family)?
A group lets several people co-edit one calendar. When you create a group with family or close friends, the anniversaries you add are shared with all members, and whenever someone adds or edits something it appears on everyone’s screen. Groups are free to use. On the free plan, up to 3 people can join a group, and members become unlimited if even one member has Premium.
How do I invite my family?
From Settings → Groups, issue an invite link (or QR code) and send it to your family. When they install Daye and open the link (or scan the QR), they can join after a confirmation and start editing together that day. If the app isn’t installed, they’re sent to the store, and the invite is restored automatically after installing.
Does the invited person need to do anything special?
No. There’s no role to choose. When they open the invite link / QR, they see “Join ‘◯◯’?” and just tap OK to join. People who join via an invite don’t get a personal calendar created for them — they go straight into the group they were invited to.
Are there member permissions (roles)?
There are three roles: Owner (the group creator), Editor (can add and edit anniversaries), and Viewer (view only). For family use, everyone writing in as editors is the usual way to go.
Can I join multiple groups? Can I choose where things are saved?
Yes. You can belong to several groups at once — family, friends, clubs (you can create up to 5 as owner on the free plan, unlimited with Premium). New anniversaries are saved to your “posting group”, which you can switch anytime from Settings → Groups. If you don’t belong to any group, a “My Calendar” is prepared automatically, so you’ll never be stuck for a place to save.
Can I use it without creating a group?
Yes. If you use it alone, you can keep adding to the personal calendar that’s created automatically. Whenever you want to invite family later, you can switch to a group and start sharing anytime.
Notifications & reminders
When do notifications arrive? Can I choose the timing?
Choose from four: the day of, the day before, 3 days before, and 1 week before. The free plan lets you pick one; Premium lets you combine several (e.g. 1 week before + the day before + the day of). We’ll remind you, with plenty of lead time, as many times as you need.
Can I change the time notifications arrive?
Yes. Notifications arrive at a fixed time each day, set to 9 a.m. by default. You can change it to any time from Settings → Notifications (e.g. 8 a.m. while getting ready, or 9 p.m. to review in the evening).
Can I set notification timing per anniversary?
Yes. The setting in Settings → Notifications is the default for new anniversaries, and you can change it individually per anniversary from its edit screen. So you can do things like “a parent’s birthday from a week before, a friend’s the day before only.” It also remembers the setting per category, so you don’t have to choose every time.
Notifications aren’t arriving. What should I do?
First, check that notifications for Daye are allowed in your device settings (you can change this from the Settings app on both iOS and Android). Also confirm that in-app notifications are on and a notification timing is selected. If they still don’t arrive, please contact us.
Will I be notified when family adds an anniversary?
When a group member adds or changes an anniversary, other members are notified too. Think of it as everyone growing one shared calendar together.
Adding anniversaries
Some anniversaries shouldn’t show an age or elapsed years.
When you add one, you can toggle whether to include the year. Turn it off and no age or elapsed years are shown, so you can comfortably add anniversaries whose year you don’t know.
Can I separate yearly-recurring anniversaries from one-time events?
Yes. You can choose to add something that recurs every year (like a birthday or wedding anniversary) or a one-time event for that year only. Recurring anniversaries automatically roll over to the next date each year.
Can I add anniversaries unique to my home (like a pet’s birthday)?
Yes. On top of the built-in categories, you can create your own. Manage the days unique to your home — a “work anniversary,” a “day we adopted our pet” — each with its own icon.
